Services

Most sleep issues can be corrected with a little attention to lifestyle - specifically stress, sleep hygiene, and bedroom layout. Our services set out to tackle all three areas with a range of tools and techniques.

All our solutions are backed by scientific research published in peer-reviewed medical journals.

Over the last twelve years we've helped a lot of people sleep better by aligning their surroundings with those conducive to good sleep. For our definition of 'good' we rely on guidelines developed through our experience and globally recognized standards. Our guidelines combine:
  • over twelve years of experience
  • globally recognized ideals for noise, infrasound, light, and chemicals,
  • the numerical description for wireless, electricity, and air quality used by building biologists.

The purpose of our services is to help you create conditions that allow you to sleep well. Regardless of the service chosen we're always here to help you through those 'uh, what now?' moments.

Initial Consultations

When you share your sleep concerns with us you tap into a wealth of knowledge that can help you solve them. During your consultation you'll describe your sleep problem and all the things you've tried so far. From your description we'll identify some initial steps to get you sleeping better - quickly. Consultations are held in our Red Deer office.

On-Going Follow-ups in Individual and Group Formats

Tackling a sleep issue that's taken time to develop is rarely a one consultation affair. Usually there are lots of little things to tweak and adjust, sometimes there are big ones. We don't expect you to walk out of the consultation and go it alone. Depending on your preference we can schedule weekly or bi-weekly one-on-one progress checks, or we can direct you to an inzomniax group. Whichever you choose, the accountability - sharing your successes - will help to keep you progressing in the right direction - towards long-term better sleep.

Bedroom Assessments

Unless your sleep issues are purely the result of poor sleep hygiene or obvious stressors, we'll recommend a bedroom check. There's nothing quite like a professional eye giving your bedroom the once-over: Someone who knows what to look for, where to find it and how to go about fixing it.

Even amongst our most environmentally informed clients we've identified simple errors with huge sleep impacts.

Checking your bedroom surroundings involves coming into to your home. Once there we'll use specialized tools to identify just how far your bedroom deviates from 'good'. If we find something amiss we'll give you some ideas for improving your night-time:

  • light
  • noise
  • 60Hz
  • air ions

  • infrasound
  • chemicals
  • humidity
  • temperature

  • wireless signals
  • intermediate frequencies (dirty electricity)
  • air pollutants (Volatile Organic Chemicals)
  • geomagnetic distortions

Do-it-Yourself

The Do-It-Yourself option is available globally.

This option uses the 'Sleep-Powered Wellness Workbook' to describe 'good' for both sleep hygiene and sources of sleep interference. It guides you through the identification of behaviours and sources that typically cause a deviation from 'good'. It then shows you how to adjust those sources and behaviours to create conditions you can sleep well in. Although measurements are not necessary to create 'good' sleep conditions, some people prefer to work with tangible numbers. This 47 page workbook includes a numerical description of 'good' for use with locally available equipment.

At $25 this is by far our most economical option. It is the only option currently available from us beyond the Calgary, Red Deer, Edmonton corridor.
