About Us

Since 2003 when she published her first book, 'The Sick House Survival Guide', Angela Hobbs has been helping clients modify their homes to relieve their symptoms. Some of them were struggling with insomnia, others with depression, some had allergies, others were sensitive to EMF, some were battling Parkinson's disease, others Multiple Sclerosis.

Very occasionally clients had to move to different homes, but mostly their symptoms could be alleviated using very simple and inexpensive solutions.

Those tried and tested solutions, along with their client stories, formed the foundation of Angela's second book 'Sleep-Powered Wellness'. Here she shows how six bedroom factors have been scientifically proven to interfere with the hormones responsible for sleep and alertness - and what we need to do during the night to minimize their impact.

While reviewing 'Sleep-Powered Wellness' the medical community asked Angela write a workbook that they could use with sleep-deprived patients. They suggested restricting the content to exactly what patients need to know and do. With that in mind Angela developed 'The Sleep-Powered Wellness Workbook' - a concise guide for anyone assessing, or addressing, sleep issues through modifications to their sleep hygiene and bedroom.

Angela's other workbooks including 'The Electrosensitivitiy Workbook', 'The Depression Workbook' and 'The Stress Workbook' are all the result of similar requests to develop materials that concisely target the environment's contribution to these specific conditions.

What got this all started?
14 years ago, after moving into a newly renovated house in Ontario, Canada, I stopped sleeping. At the time I was a healthy young teacher and soccer-mum to two little boys. Without sleep my newly renovated home, located over a stream and overlooked by a broadcasting transmitter, began to affect my balance and thought processes.

Within a year I was in a wheelchair with diagnoses that ranged from depression and anxiety to a suspected brain tumour and multiple sclerosis. At that point my husband moved us to Alberta where a ten minute commute would allow him the time to care for his invalid wife and two children.

In the new location my health improved and two years later I was out of my wheelchair, symptom-free, and back at work.

Curious to understand what had happened, so I could prevent such a close call ever happening again, I began to research the impact our surroundings have on sleep and health. For the last ten years, while working and raising a family, I've dedicated a portion of every day to my hobby - growing my knowledge and using it to help others suspicious of the role their surroundings play in their sleep and health issues.
